Open Education Day in Bern

Upcoming Saturday, May 6, 2023, the Open Education Day will take place at PHBern.

I will also participate with two contributions:

  • At 11:00 AM, I will give a 90 minute workshop about Python and the Micro:Bit (openeducationday.ch/programm-2023/workshops/#python). For young students, it is a fun way to get into programming, especially when using some of the thousand accessories available for the micro:bit. Of course, I will bring 10 micro:bits including gadgets, and we will try out different exercises together. All you need to do is bring your laptop with a Chrome browser and a USB A connector. Even if you are neither a “young student” nor a teacher, you can gain inspirations for business hackathons or your (new) hobby.
  • At 1:15 PM, I will give a short lightning talk about AsciiDoc as a Lightweight Markup Language (openeducationday.ch/programm-2023/freespace/), mainly—but not only—for the purpose of creating worksheets and theses at schools and universities. However, since AsciiDoc is a general markup language, it is also suitable perfect for documenting software architectures—one of the core businesses of SimplexaCode.

Even if you are not in the education sector, you can profit from visiting the Open Education Day and learn something about Python, the micro:bit, the AsciiDoc markup language and many other topics, especially from the maker scene.

Entry is free of charge, but prior registration is required. Please find more information at openeducationday.ch. All sessions will be either in German or French.
